Summer summer summer

It's here, it's here! Well sort of. Now that the madness of finals week is over, it is officially summer break and it's time to bust out all of my best warm weather attire. One slight problem though, Los Angeles and mother nature are not cooperating with each other to make the sun and heat come out. Every time I think it's happening....boom shut down again with 65 degree weather and only slight sunshine. It makes me want to shake mother nature and scream DON'T YOU REALIZE I'M FROM TEXAS AND ONLY APPROVE OF 80 AND ABOVE. So for the time being I'm stuck wearing a jacket and jeans, but that doesn't mean I can't dream of all the things I will buy and wear in the lovely summer heat. I am eternally in love with shopnastygal.com and can't wait to buy some new goodies!

Spending some money on these new summer clothes seems like a good way to beat my weather blues! Now all I need is to add a little color into my wardrobe and my skin tone and I'll be set for the summer. Oh and possibly a day off as well....if you're listening fairy godmother....

The invention of a lifetime

What is this you ask? Oh just me and my bestie romping around in a full body pink jumpsuit. The OnePiece! It ranks as my second favorite thing to come out of the UK, the first being my lovely roommate of course. I came across this perfect invention at the Flaunt Magazine Party for Coachella. A short video and some jumping up and down later this baby was mine! I haven't wanted to take it off since and I probably never will.

A fauxtale Story

On earth day it only seems fitting to shamelessly promote the line that I slave for. Lifetime artists Toree Arntz and Kate Thompson's line of handcrafted couture pieces are sure to make your heart fill with envy. From ornate headdresses to unique jewelry and clothing, Fauxtale's collections offer the best in specialty couture with a twist. And the proof is in the pudding, check out these photos from a past edition of Malibu Magazine:

Information is available on their website Fauxtaledesign.com or by clicking on the top picture of my blog profile (shameless promotion remember?). Check. It. Out.

Girls We Hated In Highschool

All time favorite Jeffrey Campbell is sweeping my heart once more with it's new bag line dedicated to normal girls everywhere. Revenge on every girl we ever hated or were jealous of comes in the form of funky bags in Campbell's signature style.
This line has sealed my fate as a lifetime Jeffrey Campbell lover and I couldn't be happier about it.

Obsession of the hour

Georgia May Jagger for Hudson has finally launched! Yes, yes I may be a little late on this one but let's face it, I got distracted and their March 17th Neiman's launch date slipped right by me. That aside, I am now currently obsessed. First off, I along with the rest of the world, have a major girl crush on Georgia. I mean really, Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall? I don't think any of us stood a chance, those are just some superior genes. Moving right along, her capsule collection is AMAZING. Hudson is one of the only denim brands that I can always rely on for a great fit. And now with Georgia's great rocker/70's edge, Hudson has secured its place in my heart. How could I not love these black lace up skinny's?!

This obsession will continue until I can make my way over to Neiman's in Beverly Hills and scoop some up for myself. Granted, this might only add fuel to the fire...

CEO's Behaving Badly

Another day, another CEO behaving badly. Today's guest of honor is American Apparel's Dov Charney. Now hit with his second lawsuit this month, Charney will face four former employee's who claim he has sexually harassed or assaulted them. Not that anyone's surprised by this revelation. Their ad's scream we have a pervert for our CEO. I mean really, assless tights? Come on guys. I guess we all should of seen this coming. A few skeletons were bound to come tumbling out of the closet at some point. Still, its a sad day for anyone who loves their basics. And with bankruptcy rumors adding to their numerous woes, American Apparel needs a major overhaul to stay in business. Let's start with firing that scumbag they call their CEO.

Bijou Van Ness

I love hats. Love, love, love them. That being said, you probably won't catch me dead in a hat unless its Fiesta Tuesday's and I have a margarita in hand. Don't get me wrong I want to wear them, I try to wear them and yet my poor little head just doesn't agree. Bijou Van Ness's hat line might just change all of that though with her whimsical creations and old Hollywood glamour. From gorgeous floppy hats perfect for brunch at the Derby to flirty rose toppers, the collection makes me want to play dress up every day. I stumbled upon Bijou Van Ness's line at the FOCUS trade show last week and was instantly in love. Created by Rehn Dudukgian, every hat is unique, romantic and glamorous in its own right.

Take this gorgeous polka dot turban, it conjures up thoughts of scandalous 50's housewives in hot pants and curlers. And as if this creation wasn't enough, I stumbled upon another amazing piece while researching the line. A Lady Gaga hat for Perez Hilton? Rehn you are definitely my soulmate.

As if I wasn't already sad enough that I don't look good in hats.... Good thing I have a mad English roommate who's never met a hat she didn't like or wouldn't wear. Looks like I'll be living vicariously through her from now on.

Jeffrey Campbell

After romping around the FOCUS trade show at the Calmart last week I was about to step foot on the elevator when wait...are those shoes I see? Oh yes, yes they are. Its like my dream and nightmare all rolled into one. And you better believe I stopped and soaked up all the amazing shoes. Jeffrey Campbell's new collection was enough to make FOCUS worth it. Their collection made me instantly nostalgic. Their look book alone was enough to transport me back in time to a hot summer's day in Texas where florals danced in my head and the churchgoers looked at my outfits in fear.
How could you go wrong with covered wooden platforms and a vintage floral print? Impossible, especially if you're Jeffrey Campbell. And a look book that could of been shot in just about any small town in Texas? Well that's just nostalgia 101.
And while their shoes are an all time favorite, let's not forget their new bag line titled "Girls we hated in high school." Brilliant, I would buy these bags just for the name alone...

Banksy is that you?

I know, I know, this doesn't have much to do with fashion. But fashion and art go hand in hand and let's face it Banksy is a genius! So my new conundrum for the day: have I been blessed to have a legitimate Banksy on my very own street?? This little number appeared a couple of weeks ago at Sunset and Maltman in Silverlake. And I must say it reeks of Banksy. Let's ponder: Mickey Mouse doing something he shouldn't be? Check. Random obscure place? Check. Banksy in town? Check. The piece mysteriously appeared while Banksy was in town marking up L.A. around the time of the Oscars. Hmmm seems pretty promising! Guess we'll just have to wait and see if he claims this piece. Either way I'm claiming bragging rights for living only a couple blocks from a masterpiece!

A flight of fancy

Lotta Djossou's whimsical jewelry collection sends me back in time. It drips parisian elegance and gives off a feeling of nostalgia for a far away place and time. Based in Sweden, Lotta and her husband started the line in the 90's and have been creating wearable art pieces ever since. Every piece has a wonderful dark romantic vibe such as the necklace below.
No one has to know that you didn't spend hours and hours in quaint vintage shops all over Europe to find such a treasure. It'll just be our little secret.
